Vessel

July 10, 2026 - August 30, 2026

A vessel is an object that holds something–artifacts, keepsakes, an idea. We make vessels as reliquaries for memories, grief, memento mori, the remains of a loved one. Our heart is an arrangement of vessels. A seed is a vessel that germinates a life. A vase holds natural beauty in our homes. A ship is built to connect us across vast distances.

Community Exhibition Program

Community Exhibitions at Gallery A2 invite creative practitioners to share their work as part of Boston’s vibrant and ever-evolving arts community. These exhibitions highlight innovation across fabrication, craft, and aesthetics, reflecting the wide range of materials, tools, and creative approaches practiced throughout Artisans Asylum.

Rooted in the A2 community, these shows often feature work created by Artisans Asylum members and provide opportunities for makers to present their work in a professional white-box gallery setting on campus. The program celebrates the creative output that grows within our shops, studios, and classrooms while also welcoming work from artists beyond our walls.

Each exhibition is developed by the elected Gallery Panel, which establishes show themes aligned with Gallery A2’s mission to showcase innovation and excellence in fabrication, craft, and aesthetics. Themes are intentionally open to interpretation, encouraging submissions from across the many disciplines practiced at Artisans Asylum—including work that expands beyond traditional gallery formats. Artwork is selected through an open call process, with most pieces created by A2 members alongside selected works from the broader creative community.
