Spaces & Floor Plans

Artisans Asylum operates across two buildings in Boston’s Lower Allston neighborhood, on the Allston–Brighton border. Together, these spaces support workshops, studios, storage, classrooms, and gathering areas that make up our makerspace community.

Following our move to Boston, Artisans expanded from a single 42,500-square-foot facility into two complementary buildings: Holton Street and Antwerp Street. Each space plays a different role in supporting the range of tools, projects, and activities that take place here.

The two buildings are separated by Telford Street and a short walk of roughly 250 yards, with parking available near both locations.

Holton Street

96 Holton St, Boston, MA 02135

Holton Street is our main public building and the primary entrance for visitors. When you arrive at Artisans Asylum, this is where you check in.

The 28,000-square-foot facility serves as a hub for community activity and creative work. It houses eight workshops, 77 artist studios, shared workspaces, classrooms, and gathering areas used for classes, presentations, and events. Holton is also home to Gallery A2 and several public-facing spaces where exhibitions, demonstrations, and community programs take place.

Many of our lighter-duty shops are located here, including spaces focused on digital fabrication, jewelry, fiber arts, and screenprinting. The building is designed to support both focused making and community connection, making it an active center for learning and collaboration.

Antwerp Street

55 Antwerp Street, Boston, MA 02135

Antwerp Street houses our larger fabrication spaces and heavy-duty equipment. The 24,500-square-foot building supports projects that require more room, power, or specialized tools.

This building contains five workshops, 70 studios, and two shared workspaces. It’s where members tackle larger builds, fabrication-heavy work, and projects that benefit from industrial-scale equipment.

Because of the nature of the tools and projects taking place here, Antwerp is not open to the general public. Access is limited to members, invited guests, and students participating in classes.

Antwerp Street is also home to SCUL, our community bike shop.
