Onboarding Information
Getting started at Artisans Asylum is a simple process designed to help new members become familiar with the space and safely use the workshops. After selecting your membership plan, your contract start date should align with the next Member Orientation that you plan to attend. Membership charges are processed within 24 hours of signing up.
All new members must attend a Member Orientation before accessing the building. Orientation introduces you to the facilities, policies, and community guidelines that help keep the space collaborative and safe. At the end of the session, members who are registered for that orientation will receive their key fob, which provides building access.
After completing orientation, members can begin using the shared spaces and workshops. Many pieces of equipment require Tool Testing before they can be used independently. Tool Tests confirm that members understand how to operate specific machines safely and without supervision.
Membership provides access to the workshops once Tool Testing requirements are met, but it does not include classes. Artisans Asylum offers a wide range of classes and workshops that can be taken separately to learn new skills, gain experience with tools, or complete tool testing as part of the curriculum.
Beyond the tools and facilities, membership also connects you to a community of makers, artists, and builders. Through classes, events, and shared workspaces, members have opportunities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and work alongside others who are passionate about creating.
