Metal Shop

The Metal Shop is where ideas turn into solid, working structures. This is the place for cutting, grinding, bending, and joining metal using processes like MIG and TIG welding, torch brazing, and plasma cutting. From first-time projects to complex builds, the shop supports hands-on learning and serious fabrication in an environment designed for both creativity and safety.

Members use this space to build everything from furniture and housewares to brackets, bike frames, and large-scale structural projects. The work here is bold, physical, and practical, focused on building strong, functional pieces rather than fine precision machining. Most projects use steel, with aluminum and stainless steel also common, along with occasional work in materials like brass, copper, bronze, and titanium.

What makes the Metal Shop special is its blend of skill-building, community, and shared ownership. Monthly Shop Nites bring volunteers together to maintain and improve the space, while Social Nights and Skill Swaps create opportunities for members and guests to share knowledge, show off projects, and learn from one another. It’s a shop built not just for making things, but for building skills, confidence, and community around the craft of metalworking.

Members and Day Pass users must complete Tool Testing.
